The National Disabilities Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

New Directions Psychology is a registered provider under The National Disabilities Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The NDIS was set up as a new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permeant and significant disability, their families and careers. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is responsible for delivering the NDIS. The NDIS supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment.

NDIS is now available in Ipswich and will become available in Brisbane City areas north and south of the Brisbane River from 1 July 2018

Summary of our services under NDIS:

The NDIS services offered at New Directions Psychology fall under the “Capacity Building” Support Purpose categories and their Specific Support sub-categories as follows:

·         Improved Daily Living Skills:

1.       Specialised individual therapy for early childhood

Individual specialist interventions to assist a child with disability or developmental delay and their family in home, care, community and education settings.

2.       Individual counselling

Facilitating self-knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources on a one-to-one basis. Assist participants to work towards their personal goals and gain greater insight into their lives.

·         Improved Relationships

1.       Behavioural Interventions Support

Highly specialised intensive support interventions to address significantly harmful or persistent behaviours of concern. Development of a behaviour support plans that temporarily use restrictive practices, with intentions to minimise use of these practices.

2.       Behavioural management plan and training in behavioural management strategies

Training for carers and others in behavioural management strategies required due to personal disability.
