New changes to Telehealth Sessions for Rural and Remote Individuals

On 5 August 2018, the Australian Government announced changes to the Medicare Better Access telehealth items, as part of drought relief measures. As of Saturday 1 September 2018, to further improve access to psychological therapy to people living in rural and remote areas (Modified Monash Model regions 4 to 7), the Government has removed all the face-to-face requirements for these items. This means that as of 1 September 2018: • Clients are no longer required to have one of their first four sessions conducted face-to-face, and • There is no longer a cap limiting the number of telehealth sessions in a calendar year to seven. Thus clients can access up to ten telehealth sessions in a calendar year. For more information about this scheme and your eligibility please refer to our Telehealth information page Telehealth. Alternatively, you can contact the clinic via our website or on (07) 3376 1977 for further information.
